The bridge became operational in 1887 and provided the railway link between Lahore and the port of Karachi on the Arabian Sea. This metallic giant weighs 3,300 tons and was designed by Sir Alexander Meadows Rendel; and manufactured in London by the firm of Westwood, Baillie. Considered as a preferred tourist site, the century-old Lansdowne Bridge still mesmerizes travel enthusiasts from across the globe.
