Formed in 1941 in Bombay, Habib Bank Limited has a vast history. Since its formation, the bank has been phenomenal in providing effective banking services to the customers. It is the first commercial bank of Pakistan. The first international branch was opened by the bank in 1951 in Sri Lanka. After this, the ban decided to move the headquarters in Karachi where Habib Bank Plaza was built, the tallest to have existed in South Asia. In 1974, the bank got nationalized but in 2003, due to the funding from Agha Khan Fund for Economic Development, the bank was privatized.
The bank is not confined to Pakistan but has a vast network of branches in more than 25 branches and a surprising huge branching network of 1500 branches in Pakistan only. As of 2015, the bank had assets totaling Rs. 2.20 trillion. In the same year, the net income was reported to be Rs. 35.1 billion with a revenue of Rs. 114.75 billion.
As of today, the bank has over 14,000+ active employees giving reputed services. The bank offers personal, business and Islamic banking if form of different products and services.
